In Tianjin,there are many buildings of bygone times.Some of them are imposing and have great artistic and historic value.However,these buildings do mot fit in well with each other,because most of them were built by foreigners in different times.The traffic in the city is not very convenient.The street are usually narrow and twisted.If the government wanted to have them widened,a large number of buildings would have to be pulled down.Some buildings are too old and are nothing more than cottages,and in place of them,some new high buildings have been set up.However,the new ones are still few and in many places they seem quite out of place.
Yet those Western-style buildings give Tianjin a different characteristic from other cities and those new ones lend the city fresh vitality which will spread rapidly with the reform going on.

英语老师顾老师开始放录音，音箱里响起了英语听力题目，同学们鸦雀无声地埋头做着题，只听得见写字时的“唰唰”声。
我想：“以前我都是错听力，这次我可不能再错了！”于是，我仔细地听着每一个单词、字母，生怕漏掉哪题。过了一会儿，听力部分结束了，我们马上做起了笔试部分，真是俗话说得好“读书破万卷，下笔如有神”，经过前几天的.反复复习，我健笔如飞地答着题，下决心一定要得到满分！过了许久，英语考试终于结束了，我常常地舒了一口气。
下午，成绩公布了，我得了99分，我错的完全是因为马虎，我居然在写意思时把“朋友”写成了“朋”！通过这次考试，我懂得了“欲速则不达”这个道理，尽管充分复习，但考试不仔细检查，是得不到满分的。

Chinese new year is a chinese traditional festival. we also call it the spring festival. it is on lunar january 1st. on new year’s eve, all the people sit around the desk and have a big family dinner. there are some vegetables, some fish, some meat, some fruits and some drink like juice, coke, pepsi and some nice wine. overall, this is a good and delicious dinner. after dinner, we always watch tv new year progammes.
we have a wonderful evening on new year’s eve. on the first day of the spring festival, most of people get up early and say “happy new year” to each other.
for breakfast, people often eat dumplings and baozi. after breakfast, people often make many delicious foods, and children often play cards, computer games and fireworks. on the second and third day, we visit friends and relatives. everyone is busy on chinese new year, and everyone is happy, too.
