大学英语作文范文1
集团标准化小组:[VVOPPT-JOPP28-JPPTL98-LOPPNN] How can we benefit from travelling?
In some countries young people are encouraged to travel for a year between finishing high school and university.?Why do so many parents allow their children to have such a trip in the most important stage of life??The answer is that it will benefit for their growth.
How can we benefit from travelling??First of all, by traveling we can see many places read of in books, and visit some famous cities and scenic spots.?We will enjoy the beautiful scenery in different places, which we can be never felt from the book.
Second, we will meet people with different interests and see strange and different things when we travel.?We can get ideas of the conditions and customs of other people, taste different foods and local flavors.?In this way, we can totally understand how differently other people live.Last but not the list, travel will not only help us keep healthy and make us less narrow-minded, but also help them expand their scope of knowledge, especially geographical and historical learning, which will arouse our deep love for our motherland.Learn English well without going to an English-speaking country.
Without doubt, if you would like to learn a sort of language well, the easiest method is staying in the atmosphere of that kind of language-speaking.?However, for Chinese, English learning has something different from others because English is more and more popular and can be learned well only in the domestic.?It is entirely possible to learn English well without being to an English-speaking country for a certain amount of time. How to do??Much can be done.?We, fore and most, can download and watch many English TV shows and movies with Chinese and English subtitles through the Internet.?It helps us to contact the English world and construct the learning atmosphere.?Furthermore, the number of foreigners who can speak pure English and come to China to study or work is significant increasing.?To make foreign friends is not a difficult thing, and communicating with them in public or school class helps to improve the ability of English-speaking?
Lastly, the learner attitudes have an important influence on mastering the knowledge of English.?The harder we take practice with effective and efficient method, the better our capability of English will be.In a word, attitude is everything, and we can gain good English skills when we really want to speak it fluently, even without living in an English-speaking country.we should be allowed outsiders to do self-study in university classrooms.
University, a unique symbol of civilization, provide a place to people thinking and learning.?This place attracts so many students who have to try their best to past the university entrance exam to study and live.?However, there are still a lot of outsiders hoping to do self-study in university classrooms.?Should this behavior be allowed??As far as I am concerned, we should open the door and welcome them to learn with us.
Why should we do that??Firstly, now that the outsiders choose the university classrooms as the learning place to do self-study, they would like the learning atmosphere there and be doing self-study quietly.?What is more, the university spread the spirit of care in society, which teach us to care others, and we should understand their feelings.?Lastly, when the outsiders have self-study in the classrooms, they also help the school to create a strong atmosphere of learning and thinking.
In a word, the school should serve as a driving force, doing its utmost to encourage outsiders to do self-study in university classrooms, and the whole society will soon be populated with such a trend. Will paper books be replaced by e-books? Why or why not?
In the period of electronic technology, the invention of e-books seems to be blessing to our students.?Some folks prefer electric ones to textbooks, for such books are obviously handy and convenient and they are conductive to their readers, who can obtain much relatively updated information.?However, will paper books be replaced by e-books??This question has brought in a heated discussion.
There is no doubt that e-books are so convenient that people can easily get them on the Internet with cheaper cost instead of spending a lot of money to buy a traditional one.?Moreover, it's more environmental-friendly and recourse-saving to read e-books as forests can be protected from being cut down to make paper. In this way, many people assert that traditional books may possibly disappear in the near future.
But I don't think so.?Traditional books still occupy an important position and they will not be replaced by e-books completely.?First of all, it's an enjoyable time for someone wandering in the bookstore choosing the favorite books from the shelves.?Besides, it can be harmful to people's eyes when keeping staring at the screen for a long period of time.?With e-books, people cannot read for as long as you like, because they have to rest their eyes from time to time.?More importantly, it will be a pity for those book-collecting fans if there are only electronic books, as there will be no more beautifully.
大学英语作文范文2
话题:
当今,越来越多的大学毕业生抱怨说,毕业并不等于就业。他们的经验极大的困难找到满意的`就业机会。你觉得这是一件靠谱的事情?
参考例文一:
Want to be a small fish in a big pond or the other way round? Every graduate faces this question when starting his career. A large number of college graduates prefer to stay in big cities, which mean more experiences, more opportunities to see the big world and more space for career development. At the same time, higher salary is another temptation。
But some other graduates intend to start in small towns. Even though there may not be many big companies, they can have a quieter and less competitive life. Another reason is that they can be a big fish in a small pond. They can easily get the management’s attention and may win promotion earlier。
As far as I am concerned, I prefer to start in a metropolis like Shanghai. A good begin is half the battle, and in Shanghai I can find a job in a big company where I can meet people from different places and cultures. I will learn from them what I can not get from textbooks.
参考例文二:
Nowadays, more and more university graduates complain that graduation does not equate to employment. They experience great difficulties finding satisfactory jobs. What is the cause of this phenomenon
In my opinion, there are four causes:
First, graduates lack experience. They spend most of their time at school studying academic subjects and lack relevant job training. Only after graduation do they realize it’s hard to find jobs.
Second, competition among graduates grows more bitter and more bitter and bitter. The supply of university graduates exceeds social demand. This results in a decreased chance for any individual graduate to find a job.
Third, some students don’t study hard. Some of them skip classes just because they have no interest in certain subjects. Some play computer games or pursue other interests. Some sleep in class or in the library. Then they leave the sheltered environment of the university campus, to discover they don’t have adequate knowledge to apply for many positions, which makes them feel lost and frustrated.
Finally, some graduates are conceited. They lack experience but ask for a high salary, which is impractical.
So, university students should try their best to change this situation. When they are in school, they should make the most of their time and put their heart into their studies. They can hold part-time jobs in their spare time to accumulate relevant work experience. They should take part in some social activities and provide themselves with special training, if possible. When they graduate and apply for jobs, they should attach more importance to accumulating experience than to their starting salary.
On University Students’ Pressure in Finding Jobs
About a decade ago, university students could find satisfactory and enviable jobs after their graduation. But now, things are different. Today's university students usually have much pressure in finding fairly good jobs. They always say disappointedly that graduation means joblessness. Why nowadays university students have so much pressure in finding jobs?
In my opinion, this kind of pressure is mainly caused by three reasons. Firstly, the government is enrolling more and more university students year by year. And the growth of the students' number has surpassed that of the need of the society. So, when so many students graduate at a time, the chance of finding jobs becomes tiny. Secondly, today's university students, most of them are the "only-child", who are more mentally frail. Since they are indulged greatly at home and haven't been trained to do things on their own, once it is their turn to go out of the campus and find jobs by themselves and decide what kind of jobs to choose, they feel bewildered and don't know what to do. If their first try fails, they will be frustrated and think that it is really hard to find jobs. Thirdly, some university students are not qualified for good and challenging jobs. After entering the university, they don't study as hard as they did in high schools. They begin to sleep during the class or even be absent for classes. Some are addicted to computer games or Jin Yong's novels, or step into the two-person-world too early. Because these things have taken up so much of their time and energy, their study is neglected. After four years of university life, they haven't gained the knowledge those fairly good jobs or certain positions require.

大学英语作文范文3
Passage A A Test ofTrue Love Six minutes to six, said the digital clock over the information desk in GrandCentral Station.John Blandford, a tall young armyofficer, focused his eyesight on the clock tonote the exact time. In six minutes he would see the woman who had filled aspecial place in his life for the past thirteen months, a woman he had neverseen, yet whose written words had been with him and had given him strengthwithout fail. Soon after he volunteeredfor military service, he had received a book from this woman.A letter, which wished him courage and safety, came withthe book.He discovered that many of hisfriends, also in the army, had received the identicalbook from the woman, Hollis Meynell. And while they all got strength from it, and appreciatedher support of their cause, John Blandford was the only person to write Ms.Meynell back. On the day of his departure,to a destination overseaswhere he would fight in the war, he received her reply.Aboard the cargoship that was taking him into enemy territory,he stood on the deck and read her letter to himagain and again. For thirteen months, she hadfaithfully written to him. When his letters did not arrive, she wrote anyway, without decrease. During the difficult days of war, her letters nourished him and gave him courage. As long as he received letters from her, he felt asthough he could survive. After a short time, he believedhe loved her, and she loved him. It was as if fate had brought them together. But when he asked her for a photo, she declined his request. She explained her objection:"If your feelings for me have any reality, any honest basis, what I looklike won't matter.Suppose I'm beautiful. I'd alwaysbe bothered by the feeling that you loved me for my beauty, and that kind oflove would disgust me.Suppose I'm plain. Then I'dalways fear you were writing to me only because you were lonely and had no oneelse. Either way, I would forbidmyself from loving you. When you come to New York and you see me, then you can make your decision.Remember, both of us are free to stop or to go on afterthat—if that's what we choose。
" One minute to six。 Blandford's heart leaped. A young woman was coming toward him, and he felt a connection with her right away. Her figure was long and thin, her spectacular golden hair lay back in curls from her small ears. Her eyes were blue flowers; her lips had a gentlefirmness. In her fancy green suitshe was like springtime come alive. He started toward her, entirely forgetting to notice thatshe wasn't wearing a rose, and as he moved, a small, warm smile formed on herlips. "Going my way, soldier?" she asked. Uncontrollably, he made one stepcloser to her. Then he saw Hollis Meynell. She was standing almost directly behind the girl, a womanwell past forty, and a fossil to his youngeyes, her hair sporting patches of gray. She was more than fat; her thick legs shook as theymoved. But she wore a red rose on herbrown coat. The girl in the green suit was walking quickly away andsoon vanished into the fog. Blandford felt as though his heart was being compressed into a small cementball, so strong was his desire to follow the girl, yet so deep was his longingfor the woman whose spirit had truly companioned and brought warmth to his own; and there she stood. Her pale, fat face was gentle and intelligent; he couldsee that now.Her gray eyes had a warm, kindlylook. Blandford resisted theurge to follow the younger woman, though it was not easy to do so. His fingers held the book she had sent to him before hewent off to the war, which was to identify him to Hollis Meynell. This would not be love. However, it would be somethingprecious, something perhaps even less common than love—a friendship for whichhe had been, and would always be, thankful. He held the book out toward thewoman. "I'm John Blandford, andyou—you are Ms. Meynell.I'm so glad you could meet me.May I take you to dinner?"The womansmiled."I don't know what this isall about, son," she answered. "That young lady in the green suit—theone who just went by—begged me to wear this rose on my coat. And she said that if you asked me to go out with you, Ishould tell you that she's waiting for you in that big restaurant near the highway. She said it was some kind of atest."

Stacia Robbins
According to a recent poll, 61 percent of American high school students have admitted to cheating on exams at least once. It can be argued such a response my not mean much. After all, most students have been faced with the temptation to peek at a neighbor's test paper. And students can be hard on themselves in judging such behavior. However, there are other indications that high school cheating may be on the rise.
More and more states are requiring students to pass competency tests in order to receive their high school diplomas. And many educators fear that an increase in the use of state exams will lead to a corresponding rise in cheating. A case in point is students in New York State who faced criminal misdemeanor charges for possessing and selling advance copies of state Regents examinations.
Cheating is considered to be a major problem in colleges and universities. Several professors say they've dropped the traditional term paper requirement because many students buy prewritten term papers, and they can't track down all the cheaters anymore.
Colleges and universities across the nation have decided to do more than talk about the rise in student cheating. For instance, the Department of Psychology at the University of Maryland launched a campaign to stop one form of cheating. As 409 students filed out of their exam, they found all but one exit blocked. Proctors asked each student to produce an ID card with an attached photo. Students who said they'd left theirs in the dorm or at home had a mug shot taken. The purpose of the campaign was to catch "ringers," students who take tests for other students.
The majority of students at the University of Maryland applauded the campaign. The campus newspaper editorial said, "Like police arresting speeders, the intent is not to catch everyone but rather to catch enough to spread the word."
We frequently hear about "the good old days", when Americans were better, happier, and more honest. But were they more honest? Maybe yes, a long time ago when life was very different from what it is today.
School children used to know the story of how Abraham Lincoln walked five miles to return a penny he'd overcharged a customer. It's the kind of story we think of as myth. But in the case of Lincoln, the story is true … unlike the story of George Washington and the cherry tree. Washington's first biographer invented the tale of little George saying to his father, "I cannot tell a lie. I did it with my ax." What is important in both stories, however, is that honesty was seen as an important part of the American character.
And these are just two stories out of many. Students in the last century usually didn't read "fun" stories. They read stories that taught moral values. Such stories pointed out quite clearly that children who lied, cheated, or stole came to bad ends.
Parents may have further reinforced those values. It's difficult to know. We do know that children didn't hear their parents talk of cheating the government on income taxes - there weren't any.
A clue as to why Americans may have been more honest in the past lies in the Abe Lincoln story. Lincoln knew his customer. They both lived in a small town. Would a check-out person at a large supermarket return money a customer? It's less likely. On the other hand, would overnight guests at an inn run by a husband and wife, steal towels? It's less likely.
Perhaps this tells us that people need to know one another to be at their honest best.
The vast majority of Americans still believe that honesty as an important part of the American Character. For that reason, there are numerous watch-dog committees at all levels of society. Although signs of dishonesty in school, business, and government seem much more numerous in recent years than in the past, could it be that we are getting better at revealing such dishonesty?
There is some evidence that dishonesty may ebb and flow. When times are hard, incidents of theft and cheating usually go up. And when times get better such incidents tend to go down.
Cheating in school also tends to ebb and flow. But it doesn't seem linked to the economy.
Many educators feel that as students gain confidence in themselves and their abilities, they are less likely to cheat. Surprisingly, some efforts to prevent cheating may actually encourage cheating - a person may feel "they don't trust me anyway," and be tempted to "beat the system." Distrust can be contagious. But, so can trust!
